"Transformation" is the latest exhibition of paintings by Britt Boutros Ghali currently on display at Picasso gallery in Zamalek. Born in Norway, the artist studied sculpture and painting in Oslo, the Norwegian capital from 1959 to 1962. She is a member in the Plastic Artists Syndicate. Her first solo exhibition was held in Paris in 1965. Until today, she has held 35 shows. The current exhibition showcases 30 paintings in different sizes where she portrays the Egyptian woman before and after the 25 January Revolution. The Egyptian woman, who contributed to the making of Egypt's modern history through the crucial role she played in the revolution, is shown in full force. The highlight of the exhibition is a painting depicting an Egyptian woman dancing. And concerning this specific painting Ghali says, "I am so proud of the positive role played by the Egyptian woman in our white revolution who didn't allow anybody to marginalise her role. So I decided to devote this show to women only. Besides the portraits of Egyptian women a few other paintings depict Egypt's unique Nilotic landscape on canvas.
The exhibition runs through 15 May.
