Science awardPROMINENT Egyptian scientist Dr Ahmed Zewail will be presented today with one of the most prestigious awards in the field of science. The medal, presented by the Franklin Institute in the US, acknowledges Zewail's research at the California Institute of Technology in the use of laser light in detecting chemical reactions instantaneously.Previous recipients of the award include Einstein and Madam Curie. Dr Mohamed Sabri, manager of the Centre of Light Energy at Ain Shams University, said Zewail had donated $100,000 to the Centre to finance the training of young Egyptian scientists. |
