Jacques ChiracAs the final whistle of the 1998 World Cup sounded the entire French nation jumped to its feet, joining President Jacques Chirac in an ecstatic celebration of France's first victory in the competition. What better way, then, to portray President Chirac in a week of French triumphalism than clutching the trophy that has so caught the imagination of billions of television viewers.
