Ibrahim Nafie

Ibrahim Nafie, chairman of the board of Al-Ahram Organisation and editor-in-chief of Al-Ahram, was in Alexandria last week in a slightly different capacity: as head of the Arab Journalists' Union. I drew him listening attentively, missing nothing, with small, neat ears, and large eyes magnified further by his spectacles. I exaggerated his mouth to signify eloquence, and emphasised the glimmer of his pate to indicate the intense cerebral activity for which he is known.
