The gallant knight of hospitality rides again, bearing his valiant sword upon his eminently French nose... Every line of his face curves upward in brackets and accolades of greeting. The optimism etched on President Chirac's face seems to have been sparked by the week-long Africa-France summit, and perhaps also by the presence of President Mubarak, with whom he is on good terms, as was his predecessor Mitterrand.
