MILLIONS of Muslims across the nation turned their heads towards Mecca last Monday during the morning Eid (feast) prayers. In the Cairo suburb of Mohandessin, thousands of Muslims from all walks of life gathered in the streets and the square around the Mustafa Mahmoud Mosque -- one of the most renowned houses of prayer in Cairo.
With a smaller group, which mainly included members of the cabinet and leading Islamic and political figures, President Hosni Mubarak performed Eid prayers at the Armed Forces Mosque in Nasr City.
