Esmat Abdel-Meguid
By George Bahgory
At the meeting of Arab foreign ministers on 24 January, Esmat Abdel-Meguid will no doubt be his smiling self. He is optimistic in the most adverse of circumstances: his beaming countenance shines upon apparently insoluble problems such as the Iraqi crisis, or the attempt to set up an Arab foreign market. His hands, clasped in good will and compassion, his limpid eyes and the salient dome of his head all indicate empathy and willingness to cooperate.
