Book Fair Seminar and Poetry Reading Programme

Thursday 4 February-Wednesday 10 February

Saraya 6 October (Main Hall):
daily 12noon-2.30pm, The Kateb wa Kitab (Writer and Book) Seminar, where books will be discussed in the presence of their authors; 2.30pm-4.30pm, The Main Symposium Seminar, where dignitaries and public figures will discuss the topics of the Main Symposium, "The end of a history, the beginning of another"; 5pm-7pm, Al-Liqa' Al-Fikri (Intellectual Meeting), in which individual dignitaries will speak about their fields of interest; 7.30pm-9pm, Shahadat (Testimonies), where famous public figures will disclose the secrets of their success; 9pm, Al-Omsiya Al-Shi'riya (Poetry Evening), where a number of Egyptian and Arab poets will read their work.


Al-Maqha Al-Thaqafi (Culture Café):
daily 12.30pm-2.30pm, 2.30pm-4.30pm, 4.30pm-6.30pm, three informal discussions of literary works in the presence of their authors and/or seminars on related topics; 6.30pm-8.30pm, Sahraya (an open evening of informal entertainment) Lotus Hall:
daily 12noon-5pm, The Specialised Seminars, in which experts and intellectuals discuss specific issues; times may vary.

Saraya Almania (German Hall): daily afternoon seminars on a wide variety of topics, including fiction and non-fiction, cinema, television and theatre.

Multaqa Al-Shu'ara' Al-Shubban (Young Poets' Meeting Place): daily 5pm-9pm a number of young poets read from their work.

Other activities include children's films, documentaries, and films based on novels in the Cinema and Theatre Hall; theatrical and musical performances in Mukhayam Al-Ibda' Al-Thaqafi (Culture Tent); seminars on young writers' books in Mukhayam Ibda'at Gadida (New Creative Wrorks' Tent); young poets reading their work in Souq Okaz (Okaz Bazaar).
