the health serviceMRS SUZANNE Mubarak on Sunday inaugurated a one-day surgery hospital in Nasr City. The recently introduced one-day surgery service was a clear indication that the health services were being improved on a scientific basis, Mrs Mubarak said at the inaugural ceremony.
The new hospital covers a 4,750-square metre area. The building's area is 1,490 square metres and includes 60 beds, with an extension capacity of 100 beds. The hospital receives about 65 patients daily, some of them treated at government expense and the others according to the "economy treatment" plan.
Health Minister Ismail Sallam said that the one-day surgery hospital depends on the use of modern techniques, such as laser and endoscopy. He explained that the ministry's strategy depends on improving health services by introducing new concepts and underlining the importance of preventive medicine. The strategy also includes a prevention plan for women's reproductive health, the family doctor concept and opening new clinics in provincial areas.
The minister said that the Nasr City hospital is one of five hospitals offering the one-day service. The others are located in Marg, Bassatin, the Natroun Valley and Samallout.
