AN INTERNATIONAL bowling tournament is taking place in Hurghada 24-27 February. Over 30 players are participating from the Philippines, Greece, Qatar and Egypt. Favoured to win the four-day event are Yanni Georgisian from Greece and Mohamed Ibrahim and Mohamed Gabra from Egypt. In the women's event, Yopin Lakampaha from the Philippines is expected to be one of the three finalists. Ghada Yousri from Egypt is expected to pose a strong challenge. According to manager Saleh Darwish, the tournament will offer trophies, not cash, as prizes. The federation's goal is to raise the standard of bowling in Egypt by providing players with an opportunity to participate in international tournaments. which are expected to promote tourism at the same time. Hosting the event in the Red Sea resort is expected to draw many tourists, in addition to bowling fans from the Sinai Peninsula and surrounding areas.
