GRAPHICS '99 is the title under which the engravings of Salah El-Meligi and his 70 students are currently on show at the Atelier du Caire. The exhibition bears testimony to how the expressive dynamism of the younger generation can articulate itself successfully and with sophistication, if and when it is given the chance -- and the space -- to do so. Taken together, the works on show are like a symphonic poem carrying us towards the brink of a new century.
