PAINTINGS, sculptures, watercolours and lithographs -- 99 in total -- by such famous European artists of the late 18th/early 20th-century period as Ingres, Delacroix, Manet, Goya, Renoir, Courbet, Degas and Picasso, to name but a few, are presently on exhibit at the newly-opened Gezira Art Centre. The centre is also hosting a posthumous retrospective of ceramic works, on loan from the Museum of Egyptian Modern Art, by Said El-Sadr (1909-1986).
As part of its jubilee birthday celebrations, the University of Mansoura is putting on an exhibition of works by its students and graduates, as well as a number of Cairo-based artists. The show includes paintings by Faris Mohamed Faris and Hassan Ghoneim, photographs by Hussein Abdel-Meneim, sculptures by Sabri Nashed and mixed-media wall murals by Hassan Osman.
