President Mubarak visiting the Armed Forces exhibition on Tuesday as part of Sinai Liberation celebrations. On Saturday, in a radio and television broadcast marking the 17th anniversary of the complete liberation of the Sinai Peninsula from Israeli occupation on 25 April,1982, Mubarak lauded the October 1973 war of liberation which opened the way for the signing of the 1978 Camp David peace accords. "I salute Egypt's martyr President Anwar El-Sadat, and his brave decision which ended the no-peace, no-war situation," Mubarak said. "I salute the 100,000 Egyptian martyrs whose precious blood was shed in the course of five wars [with Israel]. I salute the armed forces who accomplished a military feat [in October 1973] that made it possible for Egypt to regain the whole of Sinai."

AS PART OF celebrations marking the 17th anniversary of the liberation of Sinai, President Hosni Mubarak on Tuesday visited an exhibition organised by the armed forces at Abu-Rawwash in the Giza Governorate.

Mubarak was greeted by Defence Minister Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi, Armed Forces Chief-of-Staff Lt Gen Magdi Hetata and chief military commanders. The president, accompanied by Prime Minister Kamal El-Ganzouri and Deputy Prime Minister Youssef Wali, also inaugurated three factories at the Al-Nasr Chemicals Company at Abu-Rawwash.

Mubarak toured the exhibition, whose theme was "the armed forces and development". On display were products, equipment and machines which the armed forces contribute to the civil sector and for national development.

The exhibition included two main galleries, one for the products of the National Service Projects Organisation and the second for the products of various military sectors. Both galleries were designed in Pharaonic style.

Also on display at the exhibition was heavy equipment used by the ground forces, the air force and the navy in dealing with emergencies and disasters.
