DRAWINGS on textile by Hoda Abdel-Rahman are currently showing at the Faculty of Applied Arts. Incorporating elements of calligraphy and meticulously balancing the distribution of warm and cold colours to construct organically unified compositions, these pieces display an unrivalled technical accomplishment. Serious and formally complex, they inject new life into a genre often thought of as moribund.
Thirty-five photographs exhibited under the collective title Silence Full of Memory by Moussa Mahmoud are on show at Aswan's Cultural Palace. These document the many facets of the Fourth International Aswan Sculpture Symposium: the artists and officials involved, the Nubian Museum, the sculptures produced and the silent blocks of granite that form the starting point of this inspirational cultural event.
