Around the galleries
NATURE and architecture, specifically the Egyptian countryside and seaside as well as Medieval Cairo, form the subject of paintings by Sayid El-Bibani on show at the Cultural Cooperation Centre. The interplay between light and shadow contributes towards well-knit compositions and the gentle, harmonious colours are duly expressive of El-Bibani's tender feelings towards his subject.
The gallery attached to the Faculty of Fine Arts plays host to paintings and watercolours by Abdel-Aziz El-Guindi and Emad Rizq. Though the former's are of traditional Cairo quarters and the latter's of rural scenes, both employ a predominantly sepia and brown palette which effectively serves to cast a temporal glow -- or shadow -- on the canvas.
