DANCE is the subject tackled in the drawings by Magdi Shiha currently on show at the Cultural Cooperation Centre. The supple lines conveying a sense of geometrical forms dissolving into molecular energy, together with the masterful manipulation of light and shade, successfully create the impression of movement.
The paintings by Abdel-Aziz El-Samahi recently on exhibit at the Atelier du Caire dealt with the age-old theme of "love" -- not in the abstract, but famous lovers and story-tellers, singers and composers who took love as their subject. Captured on El-Samahi's brightly coloured canvases are Sheherezade and Shahrayar, Anthony and Cleopatra, Romeo and Juliet and Umm Kulthoum and Ahmed Rami.
