The moon in a balloon
The Balloon Theatre, which so dominated the Agouza Corniche skyline, is no more -- at least, not in its familiar incarnation. Instead of the somewhat bedraggled tent, sheets of polycarbonate now form an impressive dome, which is waterproof and keeps the theatre cool, too. It is also a radical innovation: this is the first time polycarbonate has been used in Egypt to form a sphere, as opposed to your everyday up-and-down walls. Forty-five workers and four engineers have been working around the clock to complete the task in a month and a half.
