EGYPTIAN museums remain in many cases places for storing or preserving artistic works. Even though the cultural centres which have been attached to some museums were conceived with the purpose of encouraging the public to visit them, the link between the museum administration and the attached cultural centres is often missing. It is therefore necessary to reconsider the system of management implemented in the museums and their purpose -- questions that need to be discussed sooner rather than later -- and, since the minister of culture has succeeded in raising millions of pounds recently, we can only ask that he initiates a conference with that aim.
