Fustat Pottery Centre
RENOVATION work at the Fustat Pottery Centre has finally been completed after three years. The new site is located on the premises of the old Fustat centre, constructed under the direction of Said El-Sadr, a pioneer of contemporary Egyptian studio pottery. The new venue has a decidedly vernacular feel and comprises numerous ateliers that local and foreign ceramicists will be invited to use for fixed periods. The construction of an adjoining village is also underway in an attempt to provide practical housing solutions for the nearby potters.
