Sketch of Effat Nagi by Mohamed Nagui
AN EXHIBITION of drawings and paintings of the late pioneer Mohamed Nagui is currently taking place at the Khan Al-Maghrabi Gallery. Some of the works are displayed for the first time in commemoration of the 110th anniversary of the artists birth. Although some of the sketches are preliminary studies of famous paintings, they are themselves coherent works of art, with powerfully expressive lines capturing the models poses. The works indicate that Nagui was undertaking a study of popular Egyptian life.
