Hassan Hishmat
THE OPERA House Gallery recentlyhosted an extensive retrospective of works by Hassan Hishmat, offering an overview of his development and the many genres at which he tried his hands – pottery (Hishmat’s forte), porcelain, wood, murals, small-scale sculpture.
At the Marsam Gallery in Madinet Nasr the late Sayed Abdel-Rasoul is the star turn of the exhibition "Folk Elements". A further 15 artists are participating in the exhibition, which purports to highlight the search for authenticity and national identity away from the strictures of Western models.
