Shaban Zaki
THE SAFARKHAN Gallery in Zamalek hosts an extraordinary exhibition of the works of Egyptian artists from the first half of the century, aesthetically documenting an era. Included are well-known figures Effat Nagui, Youssef Sida, Hidayet, Adham and Seif Wanli and otherswho have enjoyed less fame than they deserve like Nahmia Saad, who contributes watercolours of exceptional delicacy and transparency, and Shaban Zaki, whose watercolours depict the popular districts of Cairo. Other highlights include a previously un-exhibited collection of sketches and studies by El-Hussein Fawzi which, by virtue of their depth of vision and technical virtuosity, constitute an academic demonstration for students of art.
