Ahmed Abdel-Wahab
AMONG the artists honoured at the 26th General National Exhibition is the Alexandrian sculptor Ahmed Abdel-Wahab, whose works display a marked penchant for the spiritual qualities characteristic of ancient sculpture. This dignifies his sculptures and adds a metaphysical dimension to his work, reducing the heavy corporeality of the mass of the sculpture and turning it into a window on another, more intriguing world. He portrays superior, semi-divine people whose extraordinary physical qualities reflect a rare and fascinating purity of mind.
