PRESIDENT Mubarak on Monday attended a ceremony held at the Third Army Command Headquarters to mark the return of Egyptian peace keeping troops from the Central African Republic and troops engaged in relief work in Turkey. The president was received by the Minster of Defence Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi, the commander of the Third Army and senior officers.
The head of the Armed Forces' Operation Department delivered a report on Egyptian peace keeping missions conducted under the UN umbrella, in Somalia between 1992-1998 and Bosnia till 1998, and reported that Egyptian troops were currently preparing to join the UN mission in East Timor.
During the visit, Mubarak inaugurated a museum displaying weapons and equipment used by the Third Army during the October War, alongside weapons captured from the Israelis.
