Fire at Emadeddin Street MIDTOWN BLAZE: Dozens of fire engines raced to central Cairo Saturday morning to extinguish a blaze that broke out at Cinema Lido on Emadeddin Street. The fire had spread to an adjoining residential block injuring four people, including a Spanish couple. The 10-storey building was evacuated and the fire was brought under control one hour later. Three apartments were severely damaged and the injured suffered slight burns. The movie theatre was empty at the time, but damage has been estimated at LE1.5 million. An investigation is under way to determine the cause of the fire, but police sources did not rule out the possibility of a short circuit.
