Under the title of "Motherhood and Palm Trees", artist Salwa Halim exhibits her latest paintings at the Egyptian Centre for International Cultural Cooperation, mixing dreamlike landscapes with visions of the Egyptian mother, both urban and rural. The palm tree, a culturally specific symbol of abundance and selflessness, is like the Egyptian mother in that she requires very little care or upkeep while managing to supply an ever larger number of people with their most essential needs. An original concept that yields remarkable results.
