At the Salama Gallery, on Ahmed Orabi Street, Mohandessin, five young artists celebrate "Alexandrian Spring." Emad Abdel-Wahab uses strong, rough lines to convey a variety of images from Alexandrian folk life, while Mohamed Omar Tosson, a master colourist, experiments with non-figurative constructions. Hani El-Sayed Ahmed demonstrates an impressive capacity for shaping iron into flowing, beautiful forms which, together with Hossameddin Shawqi's pottery, offers an interesting antidote to the paintings. Zakaria Soliman's fantastical, computer-manipulated images are a world unto themselves. Taken as a whole, the exhibition testifies to the vitality and skill of young artists in Alexandria.
