HEART OF THE MATTER:
Scuffles broke out on Tuesday during a Palestinian youth rally to oppose Israel's 33-year occupation of Arab East Jerusalem. Two Palestinians and two Israeli policemen were slightly injured and five Palestinians were arrested during the rally of almost 200 young people organised by the Orient House, headquarters of the Palestinians in the disputed eastern sector of the city.
Demonstrators waved Palestinian flags and banners declaring "no peace without Jerusalem" and demanding a declaration of a Palestinian state in September.
Jerusalem police blamed the marchers for crossing agreed "red lines" by attempting to walk through a nearby gate into the Old City.
