BRING ON THE FOOD: It seemed like only yesterday. Just weeks after scrambling to get extra foodstuffs onto the market in preparation for the fasting month of Ramadan, officials were at it once again, this time on the eve of Eid Al-Fitr. This time around the challenge was to meet the demand for sweets, in particular kahk and ghorayiba (traditional biscuits). ![]()
Consequently, 40,000 tons of flour and 25,000 tons of sugar were made available and bakeries worked around the clock to make the required cookies.
