CITIBANK Egypt recently launched CitiDirect, a new on-line customer access and Internet platform. Over the next two years, CitiDirect will replace most of the existing electronic banking platforms used by the bank, including CitiBanking and other customer delivery systems.CitiDirect is expected to offer secure worldwide access to the corporate bank's entire portfolio of transaction products and services. This will include cash, trade, securities and foreign exchange services.
This new platform uses a standard Web browser with state-of-the-art Web security. The customer accesses this new service in a manner similar to many other secure Web-based sites.
According to the bank's officials, this new platform can be easily upgraded without disrupting customers, who will see the upgrade immediately, with no need to alter their software or configuration.
Nortel Networksdebuts in Egypt
NORTEL NETWORKS recently launched Nortel Networks Egypt at a lavish ceremony attended by Minister of Communications and Information Ahmed Nazif. The newly formed company plans to recruit more than 70 people, implement a large investment programme estimated at $50 million and become a central hub in the development of the Internet in Egypt, the Middle East and North Africa."We're investing heavily and leveraging the global resources of Nortel Networks to bring a new, high-performance Internet to businesses and residential customers in Egypt," said David Balducci, the company's vice president for sales for the Middle East and Africa, at last Saturday's event. "The launch of the company in Egypt will be an important step for us, allowing us to further strengthen our presence in the country and to build new relationships with key players in the region."
Nortel Networks is a global Internet and communications leader with capabilities spanning optical, wireless, local Internet and e-business.
"We will recruit a highly motivated and talented team to help our customers compete more effectively in the global marketplace and fully exploit the benefits of the Internet," said Magdy Hussein, country manager for Nortel Networks Egypt. Among the company's plans in Egypt is an extensive education programme for science and technology university students and the creation of a software development house.Nortel Networks is building on an already successful relationship with Telecom Egypt.
