THE WORLD'S A STAGE: Mrs Suzanne Mubarak was scheduled yesterday night to open the refurbished Gumhouriya Theatre and attend a modern dance performance set to Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazad, and choreographed by Walid Aouny. Minister of Culture Farouk Hosni described the new and improved Gumhouriya as "a serious theatre with world-class technical facilities," and added that several other theatres are due to open their doors to the public once more after the completion of renovation work. These include the Puppet Theatre, Miami and Sayed Darwish. Plans are also in the offing for the upgrading of the National, the New Theatre and Al-Tali'a. Theatre-goers are sure to be rubbing their hands in anticipation already.
