Sosostris

Pack of Cards

By Madame Sosostris

Darlings, I am afraid that you will be deprived of my irresistible wit for once, since I have been thrown clear out of the page by those lovely ads that you will be able to contemplate at leisure this weekend. As you must know my poppets, money talks and its voice seems to be even louder than mine.

My dear friend professor of philosophy at AUC Ernest Wolf Gazo had the idea to organise a visit at Al-Ahram Weekly for his son Sinan's classmates. Sinan is a 4th grader at the British International School, Cairo.

Forty-five young boys and girls under the supervision of their able teachers Miss Love and Miss Dellman were welcomed by the Weekly's editor-in-chief, Hosny Guindy who led them on a grand tour of the offices. Our dear editor-in-chief was amazed at the degree of awareness of the children and the high level of their intelligence for which he credits the school and its teaching methods. Although busy as usual, our boss took great pleasure in answering all the questions. He did not say so, but I bet darlings, that he found them rather more stimulating than those we usually ask him. I do hope that Professor Gazo's initiative is emulated by other schools. Nothing like real life situations to teach the young what life is all about.
