Back to school
Families thronged the Cairo International Fairgrounds to snap up school supplies at bargain prices. Eman Youssef paid a visit.
The annual school supplies fair, which wrapped up on Tuesday after a week-long run, attracted a record number of vendors. "The number of participants, some 200 companies from the private sector, the Ministry of Supply and the Federation of Industries, was almost double last year's figure, a reflection of the positive perception of the importance of these kinds of fairs," chairman of the General Organisation for International Exhibitions and Fairs, El-Said Saleh said.
In its third consecutive year, the fair displayed a vast array of goods, including computers, clothing, school uniforms, shoes, bags, pens and stationary along with processed food.
Discounts ranged from 10 to 60 per cent. Among the bargains were school bags, costing between LE15 and LE45, and shoes, which could be purchased for LE15 to LE60.
