* I wonder if any of you remembers Saadallah Wanous's famous play, "The Elephant, Your Royal Highness." If not, a new one-act show, performed at the Shooting Club and entitled "Moments," was aimed at refreshing failing memories, or presenting another version to those who missed the first, 32 brief years ago. How time flies, my sweets... This rendition, modernised and revamped, is directed by Mohamed Shumman, who is also responsible for the renovation work. The play is partly satirical, partly didactic, and endeavours to take a hard look at Egyptian society. Of course, songs by sha'bi singing sensation Shaaban Abdel-Rehim contribute greatly to the show's smashing success.

* My dear friend and colleague George Bahgory has just hopped on a plane to Paris, where he will be spending a few days. The purpose of the trip is his pressing need to grace with his presence the vernissage of his exhibition, in which he will show 30 paintings entitled "Carnet de Voyage" and a series of three entitled "Vallée du Nil" at the Gallerie Claude Lemand. The opening took place yesterday, and I can't wait to hear from him.

* Back from a short holiday, our dear colleague Fatemah Farag was met with a very painful surprise. Her beloved one- year-old Pekinese Sushi had gone missing, probably stolen from the garden of her friends' house in Khan Younis Street in Mohandessin. For the past two weeks, Fatemah has been desperately looking for her in pet shops, the pet market of Sayeda Aisha and any other place she can think of. Among you, my friends, I am sure that there are many animal lovers; and if you happen to have sighted the lost little creature, please do hasten to let me know.
