Anticipating more business
DURING its three-day visit to Egypt, a 15-person delegation of British business people and bankers headed by the Lord Mayor of London, Sir David Howard, met with Egyptian government officials to discuss ways to enhance bilateral economic relations. At a press conference, Howard said that last month's terrorist attacks on the US will not negatively affect Egyptian-British economic relations. Moreover, he predicted that British investment in Egypt would increase over the next few years due to the frequent exchange of visits between both sides.
During his visit to the Cairo Stock Exchange, Howard praised the Egyptian stock market's achievements during the past few years. He also suggested that Egypt has considerable potential as a regional finance centre.
Howard met with President Hosni Mubarak, Minister of Economy Youssef Boutros- Ghali, Minister of Finance Medhat Hassanein as well as Chairman of the Cairo and Alexandria Stock Exchanges Sameh El-Torgoman.
