Kofi Annan

For Kofi Annan, is the Nobel prize a curse or a blessing? What a burden it must be to have the face of world peace at a time of such strife. Nothing is certain: will humanity destroy itself just as it becomes able to cure its most pernicious diseases, feed the hungry, clothe and educate the underprivileged? Surely these are the paths to peace, while bombs impose only the quiet of death.
