NEW WORKS by Golo will be on show until 19 December at the Townhouse Gallery. Golo's whimsical take on daily life seldom fails to raise a smile, and occasionally an eyebrow. And if the pre-publicity material of the current show is anything to go by this time round his ironic eye appears to have found the perfect subject, the tourists who flock to the monuments of Upper Egypt (for much of the year the artist lives on the West Bank at Luxor). There with all their trademark accessories, sunglasses, shorts, hats, and the ubiquitous bottle of mineral water, they will sit for a month on the walls of the gallery, a perfect antidote to the mid-season doldrums.
