TOWNHOUSE Gallery in association with the Swiss cultural fund Pro Helvetia is hosting the exhibition "Made in Egypt: Four Women -- Four Visions" featuring the work of contemporary Egyptian and Swiss photographers -- Chantal Michel, Monique Jacot, Suzanne Hafina and Heba Farid. The exhibition offers various visions of Egypt through the eyes of four women from differing cultural and artistic backgrounds. The two Swiss artists were invited to Egypt while they worked on their contributions for this exhibition. Michel, famous for her dramatic performances and equally dramatic artwork, offers here a collection of photographs depicting the everyday life of Egyptians, having included herself within their domestic settings. The exhibition will run from 8 January to 6 February 2002 at Townhouse Gallery. It will then move to Switzerland from May to September.
