INTERIOR Minister Habib El-Adli said in remarks published yesterday that a videotape found in Afghanistan showing Al- Qa'eda leader Osama Bin Laden discussing the 11 September terrorist attacks in the US was a "clear confession" of responsibility. "This tape totally and clearly condemns Osama Bin Laden," El-Adli told the weekly magazine Al- Mussawar. "For us in Egypt, we consider it a total confession, which condemns him, and there is nothing else to it," the interior minister said.
It was the first official reaction to the tape, which was released by the US Defence Department earlier this month. "It is deeply regrettable that he [Bin Laden] and his partners call themselves Muslims. They have insulted Islam and Muslims before the American people and the world," El-Adli said.
