In her address during the celebration marking the launch of the festival hosted by the Culture Ministry at the Armed Forces' Al-Galaa Theatre, Mrs Mubarak said that knowledge modifies people's behaviour and promotes positive values. Through cultural enlightenment, the spirit of tolerance, freedom and peace can be spread, she said, leading to the advancement and development of our societies.
Mrs Mubarak, who is both the initiator and the driving force behind the festival's success, praised the programme's achievements in the field of reading, writing and publishing of books for all ages, as well as the establishment of new libraries and cultural centres throughout Egypt's governorates.
