KICKING off celebrations marking the 29th anniversary of the 6 October War, President Hosni Mubarak, in his capacity as the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, chaired a meeting of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces yesterday. He also placed a wreaths of flowers at the War Memorial in Nasr City, and the tombs of presidents Anwar El-Sadat and Gamal Abdel-Nasser. Mubarak was also scheduled to give a speech in Ismailia yesterday evening at a dinner sponsored by the Armed Forces, which was to include a musical performance depicting Egypt's battles for liberation and a better future. photo: Ahmed Murad
