REMEMBERING SADAT

Egypt commemorated the 29th anniversary of the 6 October War and mourned the passing of late President Anwar El- Sadat. On that date in 1973, Sadat sent Egyptian troops to cross the Suez Canal in a liberation war. Ironically, Sadat was assassinated on 6 October in 1981 by Islamists of the Jihad group during a military parade commemorating the war.
