Doubling the victory
Most final rounds of championships end with one winner. The final of the first round of the national Handball League championship, however, saw two. Though Zamalek's handball team beat archrivals 31-26 in the final, it was the Ahli team who celebrated and lifted the cup. Inas Mazhar writes.

Each has a separate champion and the league champion is determined based on whoever wins the most titles. The winning club, however, is based on the cumulative points collected by both its youth and men's teams.
Before the thrilling game between the top two teams in the country, Ahli had already guaranteed itself the club title after the men's team collected 19 points and the youth 21. The youth team had beaten Zamalek's youth 33-21 in spectacular display of the nation's future.
The match that took place at the Ahli indoor hall witnessed the arrival of a flock of spectators -- all of whom had come to support the team that lost all national and international championships last year.
But despite losing with points, Zamalek's men's team displayed its best and played for a win since a win over their arch rivals is accounted by the fans and the media as a championship win in its own right.
With this victory, Ahli qualified to the Arab Clubs Championship, and Zamalek fans were given what will be at least a few weeks in fan paradise.
