EGYPT'S under-17 football squad qualified for the junior African Nations Cup, to be played in Swaziland in May, after beating Malawi 3-0 on aggregate.

In Cairo on Sunday, Egypt won 2-0, having won 1-0 in Malawi two weeks earlier.

In Cairo Stadium in front of a sparse crowd, Egypt sealed the win in the first half. Shika Bala scored from a penalty and Mohamed Farag doubled the score after 40 minutes.

Malawi, which arrived in Cairo on the day of the match, pressed for goals in the second half leaving their defence wide open but poor finishing by Egypt prevented a rout.

Egypt's coach Farouk El-Sayed said he was satisfied with the result and hoped the team would win a medal in the cup.
