The moment of fear was captured by the Agence France-Presse photojournalist George Gobet and is part of the World Press Photo Exhibition currently on view at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.
The exhibit, showing in the Bibliotheca's main hall, falls within the library's mandate to promote freedom of expression, the subject of a one-day seminar held at the library this week (see p.3).
World Press Photo is an independent non-profit organisation which has evolved into a leading platform for photojournalism. It sponsors one of the world's best-travelled photographic contests, with prize-winning photographs exhibited in more than 40 countries and attracting an audience in excess of one million.
