It is with deep sorrow that I bid farewell to Hosny Guindy, a man who was close to my heart, one of the most dedicated and diligent members of the huge Al- Ahram organisation.
Hosny Guindy was a model of affability, refinement and moral rectitude. His commitment to the highest standards of the profession, to its noble purpose and to its ethical values was of such firmness as to provide a shining example, not just within Al-Ahram but throughout the profession. Little wonder then that the Supreme Press Council's committee in charge of assessing the Egyptian press's adherence to the journalistic code of ethics has consistently commended Al-Ahram Weekly, under his charge, for not having committed a single infringement of the code.
Hosny was a virtuous man whose contribution to Al-Ahram included the training of several generations of journalists, many of whom graduated to become prominent members of the profession.
May God help his family, his wife and daughter and all those who loved him find solace in this great loss.
