MAHMOUD MOUSSA shows recent sculptures at Khan Al-Maghraby Gallery, Zamalek, a rare opportunity to see the artist's work. Moussa, who was guest of honour at the Aswan Sculpture Symposium in 2001, and who was honoured by the Alexandria Biennale in the same year, was born in Alexandria in 1913. His career began when, in 1931, he joined evening classes run by the Amateurs Society, then under the direction of Mahmoud Said, and received further impetus with the encouragement of Mahmoud Mukhtar, Egypt's most celebrated modern sculptor.
