PRESIDENT Hosni Mubarak attended a musical extravaganza on Tuesday night commemorating the 30th anniversary of the October War. Mrs Suzanne Mubarak, Prime Minister Atef Ebeid, Minister of Information Safwat El-Sherif, Minister of Defence Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi, who delivered the welcoming address, Minister of Culture Farouk Hosni and a coterie of Egyptian, Arab and international dignitaries were also present.
The event took place at the Cairo International Stadium and featured an operetta that encapsulated 3,000 years of Egyptian history. The performance included dancers in Ancient Egyptian costumes performing steps inspired by hieroglyphs. The show, which was co-sponsored by the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Information, required a cast of 3,500.
