Horoscopes:
Turn on the waterworks

All three signs reviewed this week have a heavenly association with water and the sea. Their nature varies considerably, but they share the need to be by the waterside. And they are fastidious about bodily cleanliness.
Capricorn (24 Dec-21 Jan) is the sign of the Sea Goat, a mythical conglomerate of goat and fish. And this combination comes through in the personality of those born under this Earth sign. Especially noticeable in Sea Goats are the characteristics of those hardy creatures that were among the earliest animals to be domesticated by man -- determination and endurance. And yet goats will easily revert to the feral condition, and this January there is a good chance that their namesakes will do just that -- that they will, in other words, go wild. Ruled by grave Saturn and outrageous Uranus, Sea Goats are as dedicated to play as they are to hard work. They are industrious, organised and scrupulous with detail. Goats are the homemakers par excellence. Capricorn women make excellent mothers, though they can be possessive and overprotective too. And it is at this time of year that their positive qualities will undergo the most difficult trials. Watch out for minor irritants and allergies during this testing time. After the razzmatazz of the festive season, Capricorns are happiest celebrating quiet birthdays in cosy homes surrounded by family and close friends.
The intensity of the passion lurking beneath their carefully cultivated exteriors means Capricorns are difficult to read. As a result Capricorn lovers can be jealous and obsessive. But Goats should rest assured that they are among the most dependable, practical people on earth, both disciplined and diligent. They make faithful friends, but friends are likely to let them down in the days ahead. Don't let them get your goat. Given half a chance, billy Goats can be domineering, unpleasant and bad-tempered; and they will just as readily overlook the feelings of others. Unlike sheep, goats like to lead rather than be led. And they hate being forced to alter their plans or dates they already agreed on. But in the next couple of months they may well be forced to. This calls for a far more generous, less cheese- paring attitude towards friends and colleagues at work -- a difficult business considering their earthy dedication and impatience with laziness.
Aquarius (22 Jan-19 Feb) is an ambitious Air sign. But those born under it are playful, fun-loving creatures who are not often in the mood for work. Water Bearers love to have a good time. It is therefore uncharacteristic of Aquarians to be feeling as weighed down with problems as they are these days -- they are not their usual jovial selves, something churns them up inside. Many of them are fed up with watery words, most anticipate some exciting change in their lives. And yet change is simply not forthcoming at the moment. As winter engulfs the Northern Hemisphere, the happiest Aquarians will be those who inhabit the sunnier climes of the southern. Impressionable Water-Bearers cannot cope with cold and cheerless mornings.
Cheer up, though. It's not the end of the world. After all we live in the age of Aquarius, and Water Bearers are remarkably adaptable. Winds blow hot and cold, and these days you must protect yourselves against the chilly draft. Don't let too much disillusion or fear creep in. Look at the bright side. Some Water Bearers remain full of air promises, and it is this that helps them through times like these. Live up to your word, stay sincere to your self, and others will give your spirit a lift. Take heart.
Pisces (20 Feb-21 Mar) is represented by two fish swimming in opposite directions. And in January, Pisceans -- especially Sharks -- will be have conflicting interests. Fish are intuitive and emotional, so you must follow your instincts. Beware of stress, don't be alarmed by psychosomatic illnesses. Pisceans desire aesthetic beauty above all else, and our ugly world will often let them down. Poor Piscean! You too are feeling all at sea about something. Remember that happiness is not always handed to you on a silver platter, but that, sooner or later, it will come.
