Live from Sharm


GOLF fans are expected to flock to Sharm El-Sheikh from around the world next week, when one of the world's most tantalising golf tournaments kicks off.

The Al-Ahram-Jolie Ville European Challenge Tournament, hosted at the Mövenpick Jolie Ville Golf Resort ranks as one of the International Golf Federation challenger tournaments, carrying prize money totalling $125,000.

The three-day event is expected to draw 144 professional golfers from around the world, all competing to up their rankings at this hefty event, which for the first time will be broadcast live around the world by Egyptian TV's satellite channels.

The challenge will also be aired on Golf Channel (US, Japan), Channel 5 (UK), Eurosport and CNBC (Pan European).

The tournament is being played parallel to the national day of the South Sinai Governorate. The occasion will allow golf fans to indulge in the festivities: a dazzling three-day folklore festival will be held on the sidelines, with performances from folkloric troupes from across the country.

The tournament is being held under the auspices of Al- Ahram Organisation, the South Sinai Governorate and the Neama Company for Golf and Tourism Investment.
